Egyptian authorities will soon close a temporary quarantine hospital set up in a Civil Education Center in Damanhour, Beheira Governorate due to the continued decrease in coronavirus infections across the country.

Sources within Beheira Health Directorate said on Monday that all the coronavirus patients who were quarantined in the center have recovered and been discharged. The center, they said, has not been receiving any new cases.

The sources added that the Health Directorate will disinfect and sterilize the center and will hand its facilities back over to the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Mohamed Shaheen, Beheira Governorate’s Director of the Department of Chest Diseases said that in the three months since it began operating, the center has treated about 379 people infected with coronavirus.

The patients arrived from five governorates, including 336 from Beheira, 21 from Alexandria, 15 from Monufiya, five from Gharbiya, and two from Kafr al-Sheikh.

Egypt on Monday announced 420 new coronavirus infections, in addition to 46 deaths.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health said that 1,007 people who recovered from the virus were discharged from quarantine hospitals on Monday after receiving medical care.

Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed said that the total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Egypt as of Monday was 92,482, with 4,652 total deaths.

The Ministry is continuing its preparations in governorates across the country, following the coronavirus situation first-hand and taking all necessary preventive measures against all viruses and infectious diseases.
