Following Hilda Baci’s remarkable achievement of cooking for over 100 hours, surpassing the previous record, many Nigerians are urging Guinness to declare her the new record holder.

If awarded the title, Ms. Baci will join the esteemed ranks of other Nigerians such as Gbenga Ezekiel, Rema, Bose Omolayo, Bayo Omoboriowo, Dance Queen Kaffy, David Dafinone, and AY, who have previously held Guinness records.

Ms. Baci commenced her quest for the title of the longest cooking marathon by an individual on May 11th, initially aiming for 96 consecutive hours but extending it to 100 hours, surpassing the previous record holder by approximately 12 hours.

Throughout the four-day cook-a-thon, Baci captivated the hearts of Nigerians as she prepared over 100 dishes, including popular delicacies like jollof rice, egusi soup, and fufu.

However, since accomplishing this feat, some Nigerians have taken to the Instagram page of current record holder Chef Lata London to leave unsavory comments.

In 2019, Ms. London, an Indian chef, cooked for 87 hours and 45 minutes, surpassing the previous winner by 20 hours and becoming the first woman to achieve this feat.

Responding to the comments from Nigerians on her Instagram photos, London appealed for peace, emphasizing that it is merely a record.

“I kindly request my sisters and brothers in Nigeria and India to maintain peace and wait for the official announcement regarding whether the current record has been broken or not. Please do not turn it into a competition. It’s just a record, my friends. I am a peace-loving person and wish the same for you,” she wrote on her Insta-stories.
