Popular Nigerian cross-dresser and socialite, Idris Olarewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged naira mutilation.
The EFCC confirmed the news in a statement on their Instagram page, saying that the 31-year-old was arrested after they received a report of her spraying and flaunting wads of new naira notes at the premiere of the movie “Beasts of Two Worlds” on March 24, 2024, produced by Eniola Ajao.
“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying naira notes,” the EFCC statement said.
“Investigation also revealed that he had also committed the alleged offence at some other event centres and parties at different times. Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Thursday, April 4, 2024, for interrogation and volunteered his statements,” it added.
The agency has since received backlash for arresting the socialite for spraying money, as many Nigerians spray money at events. One user said, “My question here is, is HE the only person who has sprayed naira in events, Let get a clearer version of his arrest instead of this spraying naira version of it.”
