Ugandan singer, Lydia Jazmine has expressed disappointment with Evelyn Namulondo whom she considered a friend.
Jazmine said she felt betrayed by her fellow singer after she claimed that the choice of her concert date was meant to cripple Rema Namakula’s own.
“There is a video they sent me where Evelyn was saying that my team and I heard they were planning a concert on a given date and I fixed mine there before them,” said Jazmine in a media interview.
“That was very, very wrong and it’s not true. And when I heard about it… When I saw it, it shocked and pained me.”
According to Jazmine, she had always considered Namulondo a friend and she also attended her show in 2023.
Evelyn Namulondo’s show dubbed ‘The Best of Evelyn Namulondo: From Zero to Hero’ was held at Theatre Labonita on August 3, 2023.
Meanwhile, Lydia Jazmine noted that her concert had been in plan for years and some promoters even pulled out and she had to work with a new team.
She said she had initially wanted February before the kids go back to school but the promoter chose March.
Her concert is slated for March 1, 2024, at Hotel Africana in Kampala. Shortly after confirming her show, Rema Namakula revealed that she would hold hers on February 23, 2024, at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala. The concerts are just a week from each other.
It’s important to note that Namakula and Namulondo have been friends for so many years.
They have known each other since the Ngonze hitmaker was still under Bebe Cool’s record label Gagamel Crew.
In interviews, Eveyln Namulondo has said she first saw Rema in the video of her song with Bebe Cool titled Ceaze & Sekkle.
Through one Muwonge, she met Rema at Theatre Labonita. Rema had also seen her in the video of Kenzo’s Zivuga. They exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
