Fans jubilate as singer, Portable regains freedom after 3 days in detention

Fans and followers of controversial singer, Habib Okikiola, popularly known as Portable are in celebration mood over the news of his release from detention.

The street artist was released from Ilaro Correctional Centre after meeting the conditions for his release.

According to reports, he was released at about 6 pm on Monday after his bail bond was presented at the Ilaro Correctional center.

It would be recalled that the Ogun State Nigerian police had arraigned the popular singer at the Ifo High Court in Ogun State on Monday morning, April 3rd, 2023.

The street singer had been arraigned on six counts bordering on assault and theft of musical equipment.

Delivering his ruling in the mail application made by his counsel, the presiding Magistrate admitted the singer to bail on N300,000 with two sureties for the case which bothered on stealing. He also granted him N500,000 bail with two sureties for the case which bothered assault.

The Ifo Magistrate Court had granted him bail. The court granted him bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sums.

The court ruled that both sureties must have landed properties within the vicinity of the court.

The case was adjourned to April 26.
