Ghanaian Highlife Legend, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley criticizes young artists for lacking social consciousness in their music.

In a recent interview on GTV Breakfast Show, Ambolley expressed his disappointment that many of the new crop of musicians have strayed from promoting Ghanaian culture and norms in their songs, instead focusing on trivial matters and projecting female bodies and sexuality.

He stated, “If I’m going to talk about it, I think they are singing more about their girlfriends than what is happening socially because if you watch recent music videos, you will see these young girls always shaking their butts.”

Ambolley also suggested that the lack of responsibilities of young artists is reflected in their lyrics and music videos.

However, his comments have stirred controversy on social media, with some condemning him and others supporting his views.
