Popular Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, has opened up on his past marital struggles and how he overcame them.
The actor spoke in the latest episode of #WithChude, the podcast by Chude Jideonwo, the media personality
According to him, at the early stage of their marriage, he did not provide the needed emotional support for Bunmi, his wife.
He added that he engaged in infidelity because he felt he was still young.
However, Ninalowo said after hurting Bunmi for a long while, he “lost control over my wife because she outgrew me”.
“I needed to take time back to see what I have done to her. The years when I was feeling too young and cheating all day, breaking her heart and everything to the years when I wasn’t there and pursuing my dreams,” he said.
“But I forgot this was a human being that was taking records and taking experiences of her life as well.
“So, I became somebody that she didn’t recognize anymore. At some point, I couldn’t call her to pick up my call. The woman I had control over, I had no more control because she outgrew me.”
The film star said to regain his wife’s trust, he had to start afresh.
“So to get back I needed to start afresh to detoxify all that I have done. It was a process and I had to go back to the bottom. It’s a process, a lot of people keep failing because they keep jumping from one thing to the other,” he added.
