Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has cried out after an incident involving a fan who disrespected her expensive look at the recent AMVCA 2023 event in Lagos.
The 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) took place earlier this month at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Celebrities from various industries graced the event with their elegant presence.
Sharing the details of the lavish attire she wore at the event, Iyabo Ojo revealed that she spent $50,000, equivalent to approximately N37.5 million in Nigerian currency, on the showstopping dress. The outfit was designed by celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani.
Expressing her anger, Iyabo Ojo reposted a video on Instagram showing a fan mimicking her appearance at the AMVCA. She sternly declared her intention to take legal action against the individual responsible for the disrespectful act.
She wrote, “Please, I need an Idan lawyer, who has Oba lawyers number, I need to sue this guy…….. nobody should beg me oooo, we shall meet in court…….. my $50,000 dress, no wayyyyyy.”
The revelation of the exorbitant amount spent on the dress sparked reactions from her fans. One Instagram user commented, “Be calming down… $50,000 that you should have used to support motherless children. You spent it on just one cloth.” Another user questioned in surprise, “You mean this dress is 37.5 million??????”
