Ugandan songstress Karole Kasiita said she doesn’t see herself settling down with a man any time soon.

The Tetunazina singer said she cannot imagine living under the same roof with a lover.

She added that she prefers living apart from her man, where she can host him briefly at her house, or visit him at his own house,
adding that her own life experiences have taught her much about men.

“Some of us have seen society and the things that come with marriage…I have seen my friends and sisters who are in marriage and realised there is nothing in there for me.

“For me, I have reached a point where I would rather have a partner with whom we are in love, we understand each other and are happy….If he is so good, he can come to my place and do those good things to me and go back.

“There is so much peace with you being there and I am here,” she said.

Kasita, a mother of one, has mostly kept her love life from the public, despite being incessantly linked with rapper Feffe Bussi.

Having lived for some time with a man, she says, she realised how dangerous marriage and cohabiting can be.

Although the man was not physically abusive, Kasita says she went through great trouble with him.

The talented singer, however, encourages young women to work hard, buy land and build their own homes before considering marriage, stressing that it is safer to have a fallback position in case things do not work out.
