A 13-year-old Kenyan, Shanah Manjeru has emerged the youngest music act to ever win an award at the AFRIMA.
Manjeru broke records on Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Lagos, Nigeria when she clinched one of the category of awards for the night.
The teenage singer was announced the winner for the Best African Female Artiste in Inspirational Music category at the 2021 edition of the AFRIMA.
Manjeru joined Nigeria’s Wizkid, and Malian singer, Iba One, who won at least four different awards.
While Iba One emerged the top winner in five categories including ‘Best Male Artiste in Western Africa’, ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Artiste, Duo, or Group in African Pop,’ ‘Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music,’ and ‘Songwriter of the Year’ categories, Wizkid who was nominated in six categories won in the ‘Best African Collaboration’, ‘Song of the Year’, and ‘Artiste of the Year’ categories with his hit song, ‘Essence’ featuring Tems.
Other award recipients include global star Beyonce, Koffi Olomide, Stonebwoy, Legendary Beatz, Flavour, Cheque, Fireboy DML, Rotimi, Sauti Sol, Fally Ipupa and many more.
