Rapper Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj was killed in a hit-and-run in early 2021, and the person responsible has now been sentenced to a year in prison.
The driver, Charles Polevich, was ordered to serve 1 year in jail as part of his sentence to time behind bars after pleading guilty to two felonies.
Firstly, leaving the site of an event without reporting it, and tampering with physical evidence.
In addition, his driver’s license will be suspended for six months, and he will be fined $5,000.
Judge Howard Sturim, on the other hand, followed through on his promise to sentence him to no more than one year in prison even when he was facing up to seven years behind bars.
Recall that Nicki’s father died at the age of 64 after getting injured in a hit-and-run accident while walking on Long Island in February 2021.
When the incident occurred, the police said the driver fled the scene and tried to hide the car in a detached garage at his place.
On the other hand, Robert was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries.
Nicki eventually opened up about the tragedy on her website, saying … “I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life.”
