Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has sadly passed away following a medical incident.
A source from the singer’s team told Pulse that he took a trip to the hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, to treat an infection he developed from an injury.
The entertainer was administered an injection at the hospital but reportedly passed out and did not wake up after.
Mohbad, aka Imole, gained immense popularity in 2020 after his hit song Ko Po Ke was released. Marlian Records, which is headed by Naira Marley, had signed him in 2019 before that monster hit.
Unfortunately, he faced issues concerning his royalties and exited the label in 2022. His legal team released a statement asserting that Mohbad’s exit was a result of the constant attacks he received, which were allegedly orchestrated by Naira Marley.
It is worthy of note that the singer was reported to have attempted suicide earlier in 2023 as a result of the issues with Marley’s label.
This was disclosed by Bella Shmurda during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo. According to his narration at the time, they were in an apartment when Mohbad stepped out of the room and shortly after his girlfriend burst into the room frantic because he was attempting to jump off the balcony to take his life.
The news of his demise has since thrown the public into a state of mourning as his fans and celebrities have taken to social media to pay tribute to the rising star.
In the short time on his climb to success, his music has made a huge impact on the Nigerian music industry.
