Popular Nigerian superstar Shallipopi’s new single ‘Laho’ is back on Nigeria’s music streaming platform Spotify after being taken down.
The song was Shallipopi’s first single of 2025, which was released on February 21. The song went viral on TikTok after he teased on his social media page.
A day after the song was released, the single was taken down from the popular streaming platform Spotify.
This came as a disappointment for many of his fans and music consumers who use the streaming platform that is one of the most popular in Nigeria and which paid out 23 billion naira to Nigerian artists in 2023.
The single is now back up on Spotify hours after it was taken off the platform.
Although the rapper didn’t give any reason for the takedown, it is suspected to be a result of contractual infringements between Shallipopi and his previous label, Dapper, to who he unceremoniously left before the end of his contract.
‘Laho’ is Shallipopi’s first single since he parted ways with Dapper Music over claims of lack of financial transparency, conflict of interest, and an attempt to commit him to a forever contract.
2025 has gotten off to a strong start for the rapper, who recently secured 6 nominations, including a nod for the Next Rated Prize at the 17th Headies.
‘Laho’ comes off the back of his last single ‘Order’ featuring Olamide released in November 2024. The song is one of the lead singles that will precede his next album scheduled for release sometime in 2025.
Shallipopi has spoken tough on his next album which is rumoured to have a guest appearance from American rapper Swae Lee.
