The South African actress and 947 radio host beat others to the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy for her role in ‘How to Ruin Christmas’ season three at this year’s South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
Reacting to her win in an emotional social media post, Thabethe says this particular season of ‘How to Ruin’ was special to her.
“This show taught me how to laugh through some of the greatest pain. The birthing scene for one, was one of the most challenging, we shot it on the 28 June, my late brother’s birthday. ”
She added: “I was very much in my feels… but you @ferry_jele held my hand through that day, and on this day I learned what it means to take your pain and turn it into art, comedy even!”
The award ceremony which took place on Saturday, 30th of September saw celebrities take home awards of different categories.
Netflix’s ‘How to Ruin Christmas’ was a major winner at this year’s awards with five wins, which included Best Supporting Actor in a TV Comedy and Best TV Comedy.
