The British Film Institute (BFI) has taken legal action against Black Lives Matter activist Alisha Hall and her company, Hall Media Group Limited, for an alleged £216,000 sponsorship debt.

The petition was launched over the large sum of money that BFI claims is missing from The Liberation Initiatives, founded by Hall, for the London Film Festival in October 2021.

The event was attended by Hollywood stars and the donation from The Liberation Initiatives was even mentioned in BFI’s annual report.

The lawsuit is still ongoing, and the BFI stated that it would be inappropriate to comment further on the issue. The Liberation Initiatives calls itself “a force for systematic change against the social and economic disadvantages faced by marginalized communities.”
