U.S.Based Ugandan Businesswoman Offers To Clear Lilian Mbabazi’s Rent Arrears

A Ugandan businesswoman based in Texas, U.S., Jalia Walda has offered to clear Lilian Mbabazi’s rent arrears.

Walda, real name Jalia Nassolo, made the offer while replying to a post shared by Spark TV on Facebook.

The television station owned by Nation Media announced that Lilian Mbabazi has been given a 10-day deadline to pay her rent dues, failing which the court take action.

“She is a mom trying & failing to fix, kindly find contacts I will pay it,” Walda who commands huge followers on social media and deals in beauty products commented on the post.

SJ Estate Ltd filed a civil suit in the court of the chief magistrate in Makindye to recover Shs16.2 million from Lilian Mbabazi.

“You are hereby required within 10 days from the date of service to apply for leave from the court to appear and defend,” the chief magistrate wrote to Mbabazi.

“Should you fail within the said period of 10 days to apply for such leave, the plaintiff [SJ Estate Ltd] will be entitled to obtain a decree for the amount or right claimed in the plaint”.

SJ Estate, which filed the case through C/o Messes Taskk Advocates, said they started renting out a house on Plot 7141, Block 273 at Konge – Buziga in Kampala on February 21, 2018, to Lilian Mbabazi.

She agreed to pay Shs1.5 million per month.

According to the suit, by July 13, 2023, the songstress had accumulated rent arrears for a year.

On September 28, 2023, Mbabazi only paid Shs10m and promised to pay the balance of Shs16.2 million. on December 28, 2023.

“… the said balance has not been remitted to the plaintiff by the defendant up to date despite several demands,” reads the suit filed on March 4, 2024.

It is not yet clear if Mbabazi will take the offer.
