Anne Rice, the author of the Gothic novel ‘Interview with the Vampire’, has passed away at age 80. The American writer, who sold more than 150 million books, died surrounded by her family on Saturday night.
Her son, Christopher Rice announced her passing on his Facebook page, said she died of stroke complications. He wrote: “In her final hours, I sat beside her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and her courage,”
“Let us take comfort in the shared hope that Anne is now experiencing firsthand the glorious answers to many great spiritual and cosmic questions, the quest for which defined her life and career.”
It is understood that Anne will be interred in the bereaved family’s mausoleum at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans in a private ceremony while a celebration of her life will take place in New Orleans in 2022.
‘Interview with the Vampire’, one of Anne’s works for which she’s well known, was published in 1976.
