A pair of updates surrounding the transfer activity of Premier League outfit Everton have been forthcoming online this weekend.
Red Devils shot-stopper
The first piece of Toffees news relates to Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
Argentine international Romero has of course acted as the backup to David de Gea at Old Trafford for the last 5 seasons.
During this time, the 33-year-old has gone on to establish himself as, in the eyes of many, the most reliable no.2 in the English top-flight.
Romero’s future, however, has been thrown into major doubt over recent weeks.
This comes with Dean Henderson’s loan stint with Sheffield United having come to an end, and the highly-regarded shot-stopper now expected to battle it out with David de Gea for starting duties in Manchester in 2020/21.
This, in turn, would of course see Romero relegated to 3rd-choice, an unfathomable situation for a player of the former Sampdoria man’s talents.
As such, the most likely scenario now appears to be an imminent Old Trafford exit.
And, as per the latest speculation doing the rounds in the English media over the last 24 hours, one potential landing spot for the South American appears to be Everton.
According to the Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to lure Romero to Goodison Park ahead of next season.
This comes with the Everton boss ready to ‘put pressure’ on current Toffees no.1 Jordan Pickford, who’s mistake-riddled displays last season left Ancelotti altogether unimpressed.
In turn, it is added that Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers for their long-standing backup.
The 2nd piece of Everton-related transfer news, meanwhile, surrounds Napoli midfielder Allan.
On the back of mounting speculation, widespread reports began to do the rounds yesterday evening, suggesting that the all-action Brazilian was on the verge of a move to the blue half of Merseyside:

As such, when speaking to Tuttosport earlier today, Juan Gemelli, Allan’s agent, was inevitably drawn on the rumours of an imminent Everton switch for his client.
Gemelli, though, went on to reveal that an agreement between club and player has, in fact, not yet been found:
‘We’re at an advanced stage, but there’s no agreement with the player yet.’
