Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), disclosed that it has received 28.4million applications from Nigerians.
It explained further that these are applications for voters’ transfer, requests for replacement of permanent voters’ cards and update of voters’ information record.
It should be recalled that the electtoral body has fixed July 30 as deadline for he ongoing registrations ahead f the 2023 elections.
Meanwhile, while giving a weekly update, INEC revealed that 11 million people have completed their registration.
According to the update, 3.3 million of the registrants did online registration, while 7.6 million registrants did physical registration.
Lagos State is in the lead for the number of completed registrations with 508,936; followed by Kano with 500,207, and Delta with 481,929.
According to INEC, youths, aged between 18 and 35 constitute the highest number of completed registrations with a total of 7,828,570.
The age distribution also revealed that 7,828,570 were youths; 2,192,897-middle age, 871,690-elderly, while 117,962 of the registrants were of old age.
