The National Universities Commission (NUC), has authorized the introduction of a bachelor of arts degree in Shariah for the Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
According to the bulletin published on its website, the degree in Shariah programme has been authorized for BUK.
NUC in its power also authorized 11 other affiliate programmes for two colleges of education in the country.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) earlier announced the authorizations in its last month publication.
NUC had also recently authorized the kickoff of two extra universities in Lagos state.
Three affiliate courses however were authorized by the commission, for the Federal College of Education in Kano.
The courses authorized are: B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies; B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology Education and B.Sc (Ed.) Chemistry Education while that of College of Education, Minna, the affiliate courses approved include: B.A. (Ed.) History Education, B.A. (Ed.) Hausa Education and B.A. (Ed.) Arabic Education, B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies.
Others include: B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology Education, B.Sc.(Ed.) Mathematics Education and B.Ed. Social Studies and B.A. (Ed.) English Education.
