The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar revealed that there are two Egyptian coronavirus vaccines ready for the first phase of clinical trials.

The Ministry of Health and Population announced earlier that it is conducting clinical trials in the third phase for two vaccines in cooperation with Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm Group.

The ministry is cooperating with Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech for vaccine production and transfer of manufacturing technology.

Ministry spokesman Khaled Mujahid stated that a World Health Organization (WHO) delegation visited Egypt to assess the country’s vaccine-production capability in terms of quality and capacity, according to WHO standards.

It was gathered that after covering Egypt’s needs of the vaccine, the ministry plans to make it available to other African countries, as the countries will be considered a center for vaccine manufacturing in the African continent.
