Elon Musk, the founder and former CEO of Twitter, revealed on Thursday that he has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the social media platform and its parent company, the newly named X Corporation.
Musk shared the news on his official Twitter account, stating that the new CEO would assume the role in approximately six weeks.
In his tweet, Musk expressed his excitement about the appointment, saying, “Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
It is worth noting that in December 2022, users of the Twitter platform participated in an unofficial poll organized by Musk, which resulted in a majority vote to remove him as CEO.
Musk had promised to honor the outcome of the poll, leading to his decision to step down from the position.
Additionally, reports indicate that some Twitter users have chosen to leave the platform following the introduction of a subscription-based verification badge by Musk.
Details about the new CEO, including their identity and background, were not disclosed in Musk’s announcement.
The upcoming transition will see Musk taking on the role of executive chair and Chief Technical Officer, where he will oversee the company’s product development, software operations, and systems.
The appointment of a new CEO marks a significant change in leadership for Twitter, with many eagerly anticipating the direction and vision the new executive will bring to the platform in the coming months.
