A 70-year-old man identified as Alto Ado has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Jigawa State High Court sitting in Kazaure on Thursday December 9, for defiling three girls.
The convict was said to have been arrested on October 14, 2020 for allegedly luring two minors aged seven and nine into an uncompleted building in Kazaure town and forcefully having unlawful sexual intercourse with them.
The watchman was later arrested and charged to court with rape. During the trial, the prosecution presented five witnesses to testify against the suspect.
Ruling on the case, the presiding Judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu noted that rape is punishable under Section 3 of the Penal Code (Miscellaneous Amendment) Law, 2014.
Aliyu also asserted that the evidence presented by the prosecution counsel proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Ado was then sentenced to life imprisonment.
