Kenya Railways has suspended commuter train services scheduled for Monday.

According to a statement by the Kenya Railways management on Sunday evening all Madaraka Express link trains between Nairobi Central Station and the Nairobi Terminus will, however, run as scheduled.

The statement didn’t disclose any details regarding the suspension of the commuter train services.

However, the Kenya Railways management expressed their sincere apologies to all esteemed customers.

The suspension comes on a day when the Opposition will be holding its second protest countrywide.

Last week, Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga announced the coalition will carry out mass protests twice a week.

He declared that they would be taking to the streets every Monday and Thursday weekly.

However, Inspector General of police Japhet Koome on Sunday banned the planned countrywide protests by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.

The IG said no one will be allowed to hold demos this week.

Koome threatened to arrest the big guns, including Raila if they attempt to hold protests.

Police have also warned against any mass action assemblies of protests, saying they are illegal.

President William Ruto noted that anyone who will attempt to disrupt business will be dealt with accordingly.
