Man arrested for killing his wife after mistaking her for his son who threatened to harm him in Bauchi

A man, Nuhu Umar Usman, 40, has been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi police command for killing his wife.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspect who had two wives and six children, was in the middle of an altercation between the wives when his eldest son threatened to harm him.

The threat made Nuhu to load his Dane g¥n and keep beside him in case his son decided to carry out the threat.

Ahmed noted that on December 28, 2022, while the suspect was sleeping in the same room as his wife, Ladi Nuhu, 37, she went out to ease herself. On her way back to the room, the suspect woke up with a start thinking she was an intruder and directly fired into her stomach. She sustained injury and was rushed to the General Hospital Burra, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.
