A man identified as Erick Mburu Gathoni has been charged before a Kibera court in Kenya over guilty of rape and assault.
He was handed 15 years imprisonment for rape and three years imprisonment for assault.
The sentences will run concurrently.
Recounting her ordeal to the court, the victim explained that she took a boda boda ride to a friend’s place and halfway through the trip, the accused slowed down near a forest where he took a knife, threatened and beat her up.
She then secretly dialled her sister’s number who rushed to the scene together with other boda boda riders and found the accused in the act.
It was gathered that Gathoni has attempted to run.
