Nigeria to engage youths in vocational training – Abdullahi

• Commends KOO Nigeria for creating a platform for Nigerian youths

The Minister of State for Science, Technology, and Innovation Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi has said that exposing Nigerian students to vocational training, will enable them to be gainfully engaged in skill acquisition.

Abdullahi said this when he received Chief Executive and the founder of Across Atlantic Organization, Dr. David Apollus in his office in Abuja, on Thursday.

He said that Science, Technology, Innovation Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are exposure for students in science education to focus on skill acquisition which will help to overcome our basic challenges as a nation.

He said that the ministry is not only focusing on genetic science and the current biotechnology revolution but AI, Aerobatics so that we can be part of the genuine changers globally.

He expressed satisfaction that the training will expose the youths who are graduates in areas of electronic engineering, ICT, computer science so that they can be engaged and focus on innovation.

Abdullahi equally regretted the fact that the World intellectual property organization does not have enough data on Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, where Nigerian youths can showcase their creativity and innovation technique as they are at the forefront of modern scientific innovations such as Fintech.

Abdullahi stated that the challenge we face as a country is on how to engage the youth in employment that is productive in terms of manufacturing, production of raw materials, and agricultural products.

Earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Across Atlantic Organization, Dr. David Apollus told the Minister that the purpose of their visit is to seek the Ministry’s collaboration and partnership in leadership training across Nigeria and Africa respectively.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation Barr. Mohammed Abdullahi has also commended KOO Nigeria for creating a media platform for research and engaging our youths in various areas.

Abdullahi disclosed this during the courtesy visit of the KOO Nigeria Territory led by Sameer Yeshwanth and his team in his office on Thursday in Abuja.

KOO Nigeria is a microblogging social media site that has as its strong point, the preservation of Nigerian culture and identity, also it is a social media that promote local content, and in unifying the Nation, using our local languages.

He further said KOO will play a vital role in the stability of the country and strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and India.

The Minister noted that Nigeria and India share the same legacy in terms of colonialism and population, adding that Koo coming into Nigeria will help to ensure that most of our local languages are not extinguished by using our various indigenous languages on the platform.

Earlier the leader of the group Mr. Sameer Yeghwanth said that the organization wants the ministry to collaborate with them in the area of microblogging.
