Kano State Governor Abdulahi Ganduje has appointed Oba Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, as the chancellor of Saadatu Abubakar Rimi University of Education, Kumbusu, Kano.
The appointment, which took effect from March 15, was delivered to Oba Balogun at his palace in Ibadan by the Seriki Yoruba of Kano, Muritala Otiseese, along with other officials.
Oba Balogun’s appointment is seen as a reward for his good relationship with the people of Kano, symbolized by his friendship with former Kano governor, Abubakar Rimi, and politicians of his generation. Otiseese, who represented Governor Ganduje, highlighted the peaceful coexistence and privileges extended to non-indigenes under Ganduje’s administration.
In response, Oba Balogun accepted the appointment and expressed gratitude to the governor for the kind gesture, which he believes will further strengthen the relationship between the two commercial cities.
The letter presentation ceremony was attended by members of the Olubadan-In-Council, along with the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Garba Mohammed, and another commissioner from Kano.
