President William Ruto will on Monday host his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo at State House.
Widodo arrived in the country on Sunday for a State visit.
This will be Widodo’s first visit to Africa where he will visit Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa.
“This is my first visit to the African region, which is intended to strengthen solidarity among the countries of the global south,” he said on Sunday in a statement.
He said his country and Africa have a long historical relationship which can be seen in several major moments in history.
President Widodo was received by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
CS Mutua had earlier held discussions with his counterpart from Indonesia Menteri Luar ahead of the Presidential state visit.
“During today’s (Sunday) discussions we reviewed the various agreements that will be signed tomorrow (Monday) and discussed ways of enhancing trade and development,” Mutua said.
The visit will also involve bilateral agreements focused on economic partnerships and deals aimed at promoting and strengthening relations and empowering the people.
“Indonesia is a major economic player and we are quite excited about this visit and look forward to the expected positive outcomes,” Mutua added.
Over the weekend, President Ruto held talks with his South Sudanese counterpart President Salva Kiir at State House.
Kenya committed to strengthening bilateral relations with South Sudan for the mutual benefit of the citizens of the two nations.
President Ruto said the two countries are pursuing joint infrastructure projects to enhance regional integration and boost trade.
