President William Ruto vows to fulfil promises made to workers on welfare and pay in his first Labour Day celebrations since taking office.

The Ruto administration aims to boost savings through the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), promote preventive healthcare provision, and construct affordable housing.

The President also unveiled a new salary policy to ensure equal pay for equal work for employees in the public and private sectors.

Ruto hopes this will attract the best manpower for the government and fair pay for all. The challenge now will be in implementation, with corruption, lack of funds and negligence by officials as some of the major obstacles to fulfilling the promises.

Despite no wage increase, Kenyans overseas are investing in real estate to improve the well-being of families and boost national development.
