Gareth Southgate provides update on Tottenham’s Harry Kane

England vs Belgium

England are shortly set to face off with Belgium.

The Three Lions head into the tie on the back of a comfortable 3-0 victory over close rivals, Wales, on Thursday evening.

Danny Ings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Conor Coady were all on target, as a much-changed England side dominated.

However, Gareth Southgate’s men are no doubt set for a much sterner test this time out.

This evening’s matchup, of course, comes in the form of a Nations League fixture, with England requiring a win to take their place atop the group.

The clash will also come against much tougher opposition, with Belgium currently ranked as the world’s no.1 side.

Southgate provides update on Harry Kane

As a result, Southgate was no doubt eager to call upon his strongest possible starting line-up on Sunday.

However, when England’s XI was released an hour before kick-off, there was one major omission.

The player missing out comes in the form of Harry Kane, who has only managed to make the bench.

It has previously been reported that Tottenham did not want Kane, who is said to be struggling with a muscle injury, to feature vs Belgium.

England, though, are not willing to let Kane return to north London early.

As such, speaking ahead of this evening’s clash, Southgate has since moved to provide an update on Kane.

And, though the England boss confirmed that his captain has been suffering with muscle fatigue, he went on to state that Kane is not injured, and could well be utilised off the bench versus Belgium:
