Gian Piero Gasperini, manager of Serie A outfit Atalanta, has confirmed that his side are ready to mount a late push to keep hold of Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo.

Diallo, 18, was of course at the heart of one of a number of deadline day deals struck by the Red Devils this past October.

The gifted attacker joined Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri in putting pen to paper on terms with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Diallo’s signing came as the most surprising of the quartet, with the teen due to set United back a potential €41 million, including bonuses.

This came despite the fact that he had managed just 3 prior senior league appearances for Atalanta.

Diallo, though, unlike all of Cavani, Telles and Pellistri, did not actually make the move to Manchester in January. With the Reds having been waiting for international clearance and the processing of a new passport for their latest big-money addition, it was decided that he would remain in Italy for the opening half of the campaign.

‘Could remain…’

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking this weekend, appeared to confirm that Diallo’s arrival could now be considered as imminent, though, with ‘all the paperwork’ having been completed:

‘Amad, we’ve had all the paperwork, I can’t see any obstacles.’

‘Hope very soon he will be with us. Very excited to have him in. He’ll need time to develop.’

Remarkably, however, just hours later, it has been suggested that the Ivorian talent may in fact not be as close to linking up with his new teammates as previously thought.

During a press conference of his own on Saturday, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini was drawn on Diallo’s situation.

And the Italian tactician went on to confirm that La Dea have launched a last-minute offensive to keep hold of the attacker for the remainder of the campaign:

‘There is an internal solution that could be very interesting, which is Amad Diallo. Clearly, Manchester United own him, but he could remain with us for a few more months.’

‘I really like him, he’s only 18, and I’d like him to stay until June, but obviously it depends on his club.’
