Independiente del Valle have recently spoken out over Man United’s links to Moises Caicedo.
Man United linked with Caicedo
Recent times have seen Manchester United set their sights on emerging young talent.
The delayed summer window of course saw the Red Devils secure the services of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, both of whom are under 20 years of age.
Last month, meanwhile, it was suggested that the Manchester giants had set their sights on another starlet, in the form of 19-year-old midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo is currently plying his trade with Independiente del Valle, having made his way through the youth ranks of the Ecuadorian outfit.
He has notched 31 appearances for the club’s senior side, and was also handed his senior international debut for Ecuador in October of 2020.
Man United not in contact with Independiente del Valle
So, with the winter window now open, many United fans were no doubt hopeful of seeing Caicedo, whose current contract runs until December of 2024, arrive at Old Trafford over the coming weeks.
It was even reported on Monday that the Reds were aiming to finalise a deal worth around €6m, including a 20% Independiente sell-on clause, for the midfielder.
Recent comments on the part of del Valle’s general manager, however, have suggested otherwise.
Santiago Morales today revealed that though there are various teams interested in Caicedo, Manchester United are yet to make contact over a swoop for the teenage talent.
“There’s interest from various teams for Moises Caicedo and we believe that we will not have him this year.
“There is much speculation with Moises Caicedo, but we haven’t had any communication with Manchester United.
“We are surprised that they even talk about values, but we haven’t spoken with Manchester United, although we have spoken with other great teams in the world.”
