Jordan Pickford reportedly facing uncertain Everton future under Carlo Ancelotti

A recent report in the English media has cast doubt over Jordan Pickford’s future at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti.

Pickford’s 2019/20

Jordan Pickford was one of England’s standout stars during their solid 2018 World Cup campaign in Russia.

Since returning to Merseyside, though, Pickford has been on something of a decline.

The 2019/20 campaign was particularly concerning for England’s No.1 with his high-profile errors becoming more frequent.

Pickford made a number of big mistakes throughout 2019/20 with the latest coming on the final day of the season during Everton’s loss to now Championship outfit, Bournemouth.

The Toffees fell to a 3-1 defeat with Pickford particularly at fault for the Cherries 3rd of the day.

Pickford to be sold?

Such displays have, obviously, not gone unnoticed by now Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian singled Pickford out last month after the shot-stopper put on something of a questionable display vs Wolves with Ancelotti calling on the Englishman to improve.

Now, as mentioned above, a recent report from the Star has cast doubt over Pickford’s long-term future at Goodison Park.

Pickford currently has just under four years left on his current contract.

However, as per the Star:

Jordan Pickford is facing a battle to convince Carlo Ancelotti he still has a future at Everton.

It is added that Ancelotti doesn’t believe Pickford to be reliable enough to help Everton push for a European berth next term and is willing to ‘axe him’.

The Star also claim that England boss Gareth Southgate was considering dropping Pickford for their two March friendlies which didn’t end up taking place due to Covid-19.

The report doesn’t mention any potential suitors for Pickford, though, and with many clubs struggling financially due to Covid, would any sides actually be willing to stump up the fee required to land an England international with four years left on his contract?
