Liverpool collapse

Sunday saw some truly spectacular results play out in the Premier League.

The most notable of all, though, saw Liverpool handed their first loss of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp would take his side to Birmingham for a clash with Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

Villa headed into the tie in decent form and with the Reds unable to call upon Sadio Mane, Allison or Thiago, Dean Smith’s men probably fancied their chances of at least getting something from the clash.

Absolutely nobody could have predicted what unfolded at Villa Park though, with the home side somehow managing to come away with a staggering 7-2 victory.

Allison injury update

Obviously, Liverpool conceding seven is something of a freak result.

But you have to assume that had the Merseysiders been able to start their usual no.1, Allison, then the drubbing they received wouldn’t have been anywhere near as bad.

Adrian, though the result can’t solely be blamed on him, had a nightmare evening, lacking any sort of confidence, which seemed to spread over to Liverpool’s backline.

As a result, the Reds faithful will probably be desperate to see Allison return between the posts sooner rather than later – especially given that Liverpool’s first game back after the international break pits them against bitter rivals and current table-toppers, Everton.

However, when speaking post-Villa, Klopp confirmed that they may be without the Brazilian for around six weeks:

“Alisson has no chance of playing v Everton. Four weeks is possible, six weeks more likely.”
