Juventus make contact with Aouar to hijack Arsenal’s transfer plans for Lyon playmaker

Juve calls

The saga of the summer for Arsenal fans has take yet another twist. Houssem Aouar appeared to be only a matter of days away from finally sealing a move to the Emirates.

However, reports emerging on Tuesday evening suggest that Juventus have entered the race for the Frenchman, enquiring about his availability, and where exactly the Gunners are at with negotiations:

It is expected that Arsenal will table a fresh bid for Aouar very soon, but the north Londoners may need to hasten if they want to close the deal.

Having lost 3-1 to Liverpool at Anfield on Monday, Mikel Arteta will no doubt be desperate to close the gap to the Premier League’s best with quality signings in the final days of the window.

Aouar favours Juventus

What Arsenal will be all too aware of, however, is that Aouar seemingly favours a move to the Italian champions, over one to the Emirates.

It was previously reported by the French media that the midfielder was waiting to see if Barcelona or Juventus would express an interest in his services. With that now a possibility, the final days of the window could see major problems arise for the Gunners.

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi is one to have already urged his ex-club to move swiftly to secure Aouar’s signature:

“Personally, I would go and get him immediately, because he is a shrewd, hungry player who has a great eye for goal. I like him very much.”

Only time will tell which of the two clubs will eventually see the Frenchman pull on their colours this season.
