Kenya records 3 new coronavirus deaths, 98 cases and 154 recoveries


The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has hit 98,432 after 98 new infections were announced on Tuesday.

In a statement to media houses, the Ministry of Health said the new cases were from 3,369 samples.

Kenya has so far tested 1,097,647 samples.

From the cases 87 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners; 63 are males while 35 are females.

The youngest patient is a three-year-old baby while the oldest patient is 85.

The cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 49, Mombasa 14, Uasin Gishu 8, Kiambu 4, Kwale 3, Nakuru 3, Bungoma 2, Kisii 2, Kisumu 2, Turkana 2, Machakos 2, Kirinyaga 1, Laikipia 1, Kajiado 1, Kericho 1, Meru 1, Nandi 1 and Siaya 1.

In terms of Sub County Distribution; In Nairobi the 49 cases are from Kibra (15), Embakasi West (4), Kamukunji, Roysambu, Starehe and Westlands (3) cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Kasarani, Lang’ata, Makadara and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South and Mathare (1) case each.

In Mombasa the 14 cases are from Kisauni (6), Nyali (4), Mvita (2), Changamwe and Jomvu (1) case each.

In Uasin Gishu, the 8 cases are from Turbo (5), Ainabkoi (2) and Kesses (1).

In Kiambu, the 4 cases are from Gatundu South, Githunguri, Kiambaa and Kikuyu (1) case each.

In Kwale, the 3 cases are from Lungalunga (2) and Malindi (1).

In Nakuru, the 3 cases are from Naivasha (2) and Nakuru East (1).

The 2 cases in Bungoma, are all from Webuye East while the 2 cases in Kisii, are all from Kitutu Chache South.

Kisumu’s 2 cases are from Kisumu Central and Nyakach (1) case each while the 2 cases in Turkana, are all from Turkana West and the 2 cases in Machakos, are all from Athi River.

The case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central, the case in Laikipia is from Laikipia West, the case in Kajiado, is from Kajiado East, the case in Kericho, is from Ainamoi, the case in Meru, is from Imenti.

The Ministry of Health has also announced 154 new recoveries and three new deaths.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 81,255 while the total death toll has hit 1,716.
