The Ministry of Health announced 91 new infections on Sunday, from a sample size of 3,435 tested in the last one day.
In a statement to the press, the MoH said the new infections, with a positivity rate of 2.7 percent, push the total of confirmed positive cases to 250,114 and the total of samples tested to 2,572, 609.
“From the cases 88 of them are Kenyans while 3 are foreigners. 50 males while 41 are females,” the Ministry said.
“The youngest is a three-years-old while the oldest is 96 years”
Nairobi recorded the most new infections, with 29, followed by Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, and Meru with 10,6 and 5 new cases respectively.
In the rest of the country, the new infections are distributed as follows: Kericho 4, Kiambu 4, Garissa 3, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 3, Laikipia 2, Bomet 2, Busia 2, Nyeri 2, Kitui 2, Embu 2, Machakos 2, Murang’a 2, Nandi 1, Narok 1, Siaya 1, Isiolo 1, Taita Taveta 1, Makueni 1, Migori 1 and Mombasa 1.
A total of 918 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,994 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 56 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support and 23 on supplemental oxygen.
Two patients are on observation.
Meanwhile, 308 patients have recovered from the disease in the last one day, pushing the total of recoveries so far to 242,535.
“241 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 67 are 5 from various health facilities countrywide,” the MoH added.
At the same time, 9 patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the death toll to 5,140.
“All of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of July, August and October 2021,”
A total of 3,874,083 vaccines had been administered across the country as of October 2.
According to data from the Health Ministry, 2,944,584 were the first dose while those fully vaccinated were 929,499.
“The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 31.6%. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 3.4%.” the Health Ministry said.
