At least 500 elderly people from Mwangaza, Kambi ya juu, Bulapesa, Kiwanjani and Tuluroba areas of Isiolo County have received relief food donations courtesy of Mama Ibado Foundation, a charitable organization based in Isiolo town.

The elderly beneficiaries usually receive the foodstuffs consisting maize and wheat flour, rice, sugar, tea leaves and cooking oil every month.

She called upon other members of the society who have plenty, as well as the government and other organizations to also chip in and help the vulnerable members of the community, noting that the needy families in Isiolo are very many, hence the organization only caters for the most needy.

The beneficiaries, some of whom have received the food donations on a monthly basis for the last 10 years when the organization started lauded the move to help them consistently, calling upon both the county and national governments to emulate the gesture shown by Mama Ibado Foundation and help needy households especially now when the COVID-19 pandemic has hit Kenyans hard.

According to Shamsa, the food distribution exercise will continue for the next nine days, with those unable to reach the organization office due to illness receiving it at their doorstep.
