Man suspected of killing his wife arrested in Changamwe


A middle-aged man has been arrested by police officers in Changamwe on suspicion of murder.

He is accused of killing  his wife in the early hours of Saturday morning at their home in Mwangosi, on the outskirts of Mombasa, by slashing her with a machete.

The incident was confirmed by Changamwe Police Commander David Mathiu, who said officers were notified to the couple fighting inside their home.

According to the police chief, officers who arrived on the scene discovered that the woman had died as a result of injuries sustained during the scuffle.

Police officers said her body has deep cuts on the head and hands. 

The couple’s three-month-old child was found by the officers safe and sound beside the body of the slain woman. 

Soon after, police officers launched a manhunt and apprehended the suspect who was hiding inside one of the area’s residential buildings.

The body of the decedent was removed to the Coast General Teaching & Referral Hospital as probe into the incident continues.
