Kenya’s coronavirus caseload has hit 93,405 after 552 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours.
The new cases are from a sample size of 7,013 with cumulative tests now at 991,448.
“From the cases 529 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners. 346 are males and 206 females. The youngest is a one year-old baby, while the oldest is 93,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement on Thursday.
He noted that 596 patients have however recovered from the disease: 484 from the Home-Based Care Program and 112 discharged from various hospitals.
Total recoveries now stand at 74,999.
“Unfortunately, 4 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,618. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who have lost their loved ones,” he said.
According to CS Kagwe, there are 843 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 6,090 on Home Based Isolation and Care.
49 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 22 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 21 on supplemental oxygen. 6 are on observation.
Another 43 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 33 are in the general wards. 10 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Distribution of the latest positive cases by counties is as follows; Nairobi 222, Mombasa 46, Homa Bay 33, Lamu 25, Nakuru 23, Taita Taveta 21, Kilifi 21, Nyeri 18, Kiambu 14, Turkana 13, Siaya 13, Embu 12, Kakamega 11, Nurang’a 9, Laikipia 9, Machakos 8, Kitui 7, Bungoma S, Kisumu 5, Kwale 4, Garissa 4, Vihiga 4, Kericho 3, Narok 3, Bomet 3, Meru 3, Makueni 2, Baringo 2, Kisii 2, Narsabit2, Tana River 1, Kajiado 1, Nyamira 1, Kirinyaga 1 and Mandera
In terms of Sub County Distribution, the 222 cases in Nairobi are from Lang’ata (30), Westlands (24), Embakasi West (18), Starehe (17), Dagoretti North and Roysambu (15) cases each, Kibra and Ruaraka (13) cases each, Kasarani (12), Embakasi East (10), Dagoretti South and Embakasi South (9) cases each, Embakasi Central, Kamukunji and Mathare (8) cases each, Nakadara (7) and Embakasi North (6).
In Mombasa, the 46 cases are from Mvita (25), Jomvu and Likoni (7) cases each, Kisauni and Nyali (3) cases each, Changamwe (1). In Hama Bay, all the 33 cases are from Homa Bay Town. In Lamu, all the 25 cases are from Lamu West.
In Nakuru, the 23 cases are from Kuresoi North (8), Nakuru West (7), Nakuru East (3), Naivasha and Subukia (2) cases each, Molo (1). In Taita Taveta, the 21 cases are from Taveta (19) and Voi (2). In Kilifi, the 21 cases are from Kilifi South (7), Kilifi North and Nalindi (6) cases each, Kaloleni and Magarini (1) case each. In
In Nyeri, the 18 cases are from Nyeri Central (8)f Kieni East, Mathira East and Tetu (3) cases each, Kieni West (1). In Kiambu, the 14 cases are from Ruiru (5), Thika (4), Kiambu Town and Kikuyu (2) cases each, Juja (1). In Turkana, all the 13 cases are from Turkana West.
In Siaya, all the 13 cases are from Rarieda. In Embu, the 12 cases are from Nanyatta (10) and Runyenjes (2). In Kakamega, the 11 cases are from Lurambi (5), Shinyalu (3), Matungu (2) and Navakholo (1). In Murang’a, all the 9 cases are from Kangema. In Laikipia, all the 9 cases are from Laikipia West.
In Machakos, the 8 cases are from Athi River (5) and Machakos Town (3). In Kitui, the 7 cases are from Kitui Central (5) and Mwingi Central (2). In Bungoma, the 5 cases are from Kanduyi (4) and Tongaren (1).
In Kisumu, all the 5 cases are from Kisumu Central. In Kwale, all the 4 cases are from Nsambweni, and in Garissa, all the 4 cases are from Garissa Town, while in Vihiga, the 4 cases are from Vihiga.
The 3 cases in Kericho are from Ainamoi, the 3 cases in Narok are from Transmara West, the 3 cases in Bomet are from Bomet East (2) and Bomet Central (1), while the 3 cases in Meru are from Imenti North.
The 2 cases in Makueni are from Kilome and Makueni (1) case each, the 2 cases in Baringo, are from Baringo Central and Baringo North (1) case each, the 2 cases in Kisii, are from Kitutu Chache South, and the 2 cases in Marsabit are from Saku.
The case in Tana River is from Galole, the case in Kajiado, is from Kajiado North, the case in Nyamira, is from Nyamira Town, the case in Kirinyaga, is from Kirinyaga Central and the case in Mandera, is from Mandera East.
