Leeds reportedly closing in on move for Rennes’ Raphinha

With less than 48 hours remaining in the delayed summer transfer window, Leeds appear to be closing on another signing.

Who is Raphinha?

The player in question is Raphinha, a 23-year-old winger.

Raphinha is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Stade Rennais, whom he joined last summer from Sporting CP.

The French outfit are understood to have paid just over £20m to land the pacey winger.

Raphinha went on to enjoy a solid debut campaign with his new club, notching nine goals and five assists in 35 outings across all competitions.

The Brazilian has also already managed two assists in five league appearances this season.

Leeds eyeing Raphinha

On the back of such a solid start to life at Roazhon Park, meanwhile, Rennes are no doubt keen to keep hold of Raphinha, especially given the fact that he still has around three years left to run on his current contract.

However, as outlined above, with less than two days of the transfer window left to run, the former Vitória star appears to be attracting interest from the Premier League.

According to the Mirror, newly-promoted Leeds United are closing on a move for Raphinha.

The Whites are understood to be close to agreeing a deal worth an initial £15.2m (£20.6 including bonuses) for the Rennes standout.

Despite their interest in Raphinha, though, Leeds are said to be eyeing even more reinforcements in the final third.

The report from the Mirror adds that Marcelo Bielsa wants to sign two players before the transfer deadline, with the Leeds boss remaining keen on Manchester United’s Daniel James:
