Lincoln vs Liverpool

Liverpool are set to get their 2020/21 League Cup campaign underway this coming Thursday as they look to add the trophy to their ever-growing silverware collection for a 9th time.

The Reds do not have an overly impressive record in said competition under Jurgen Klopp, though they did make it to the quarter-final stages last term playing largely youth players.

As a result, they should be more than confident of seeing off League One outfit Lincoln in the 3rd round.

Updates on Henderson, Matip & Gomez

Pepijn Lijnders, assistant manager at Liverpool, would hold the pre-match press conference for this tie.

During the presser, Lijnders would provide updates on a trio of first-team stars.

Both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip missed the Reds’ trip to Stamford Bridge over the weekend. And both are once again set to miss out on Thursday, though the former is expected to train on Friday.

Lijnders also confirmed that Jordan Henderson, who came off at half-time vs Chelsea, will too miss Thursday’s game.

However, it is added that the Liverpool skipper could be back in time to face Arsenal:

“[For] Joe [it] comes too soon, he will train Friday with the team – that’s good news, to be honest.

“Joel will probably only come back during the international break; that will take some longer time, some more time.

“Hendo, hopefully he will get back next week, but tomorrow for sure is too soon for Hendo. Maybe [back for Arsenal], yeah, hopefully.”
