Manchester United star Harry Maguire has been handed a suspended prison sentence, after being found guilty of 3 charges relating to an incident on the Greek island of Mykonons last week.

The controversy surrounding Maguire of course first surfaced in the early hours of Friday the 21st of August.
The 27-year-old was reported to have been involved in a ‘very heated altercation’ with fellow English holidaymakers late on Thursday night.
Local authorities were subsequently called to the scene, with tensions having only proceeded to rise further in the time that followed.
In a statement released a short time later, it was then confirmed that, following the intervention of the police in the aforementioned ‘altercation’, Maguire, along with two others, became embroiled in a 2nd dispute, which eventually became physical.
This saw all 3 individuals accused of attempting to evade arrest, before assaulting the officers involved.

A whole host of varying accounts of exactly what transpired on the night in question have since followed, with Maguire’s defence team having claimed in court earlier today that the incident was instigated by a pair of men, who injected the Manchester United star’s sister with an unknown substance.
It was also suggested that the English international (who was named in Gareth Southgate’s latest squad earlier today) was the victim of a police assault, with Maguire having been threatened with a career-ending injury.
The exact details of what occurred may of course never become clear, but what has nevertheless this evening been confirmed is the verdict of Maguire’s hearing.
As confirmed by a host of sources a short time ago, the central defender has been found guilty of 3 offences, in the form of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and repeated attempts of bribery:

Maguire’s sentence has since also been announced, with the 27-year-old handed a 21-month suspended stint in prison.
Maguire will not face any actual time behind bars, owing to the fact that his charges were viewed as misdemeanours, with the Man United captain also a first-time offender.
Maguire has been handed 21 months and ten days suspended sentence.
His club @ManUtd say his legal team will appeal the verdict.
