The latest word stemming from the English media on Tuesday suggests that Manchester United could be without the services of a whole host of first-team players in their fast-approaching meeting with Crystal Palace.

United vs Palace

Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s men are set to get their Premier League campaign underway in 4 days’ time.

The English top-flight of course kicked off this past weekend, with 16 of the competition’s 20 clubs having been in action.

Manchester United, though, along with neighbours City, were granted a late return, on the back of their European endeavours last month.

As such, the Reds Devils’ opener will come on Saturday the 19th, in a meeting with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Reds concerns

As outlined above, however, as United ramp up their preparations for the gruelling campaign ahead, they are being forced to sweat over the availability of a whole host of players.

As per a report from the Manchester Evening News, for one reason or another, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be without as many as 11 members of his first-team squad versus Palace this weekend.

The one certain absentee is Axel Tuanzebe, as the stopper continues to work towards a return to the pitch following a long-term injury.

All of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Eric Bailly, meanwhile, only arrived back at United’s Carrington training base on Monday.

Bruno Fernandes reported for training over the weekend, with his fitness levels also unclear, whilst Phil Jones, despite closing on match sharpness, unlikely to be considered for selection.

Mason Greenwood is another doubt, with the young attacker still training in isolation after being sent home from international duty for breaking Covid-19 restrictions in Iceland.

Finally, shot-stopper Sergio Romero has not yet linked up with the rest of Solskjaer’s squad, having slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford following Dean Henderson’s return.
