England back in action

England are set to return to action in less than two weeks’ time.

First, Gareth Southgate’s men are set to face off with the Republic of Ireland, in a friendly clash on the 12th of November.

The Three Lions will then play out their final two Nations League group games of the year.

After losing to Denmark during the last international break, England have slipped down to 3rd in their group.

As a result, if they wish to stand any chance of qualifying, they will likely need to beat both table-topping Belgium and Iceland this month.

Foden & Greenwood back in England fold

Ahead of the upcoming break, meanwhile, updates on a pair of England stars have been forthcoming on Monday the 2nd of November.

Two players who did not play a part in the Three Lions’ loss to Denmark, or indeed any of the latest international break, were Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood.

The youngsters were exiled from the England squad by Gareth Southgate, after breaking Covid-19 protocols whilst in Iceland back in September.

However, with yet another round of international fixtures on the horizon, it appears that the pair have been let off the naughty step by Southgate.

The Athletic reported on Monday that Foden and Greenwood are now back in contention for England duty, following their recent exclusion.

Whilst the Manchester-based duo are are seemingly no longer being punished, though, will they actually earn call-ups?

Foden has been in fine form for Manchester City in both the Champions League and Premier League of late, adding a much-needed cutting edge to the Sky Blues’ attack.

Greenwood, on the other hand, hasn’t been overly impressive over recent weeks, and with the likes of Danny Ings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and even Patrick Bamford to contend with, could therefore miss out on a spot in the Three Lions’ setup once again this month.
