A recent report from England has credited Manchester City with an interest in Sassuolo midfielder, Manuel Locatelli.
Who is Manuel Locatelli?
After spending a year loan with the club, Manuel Locatelli joined Sassuolo on a permanent basis in the summer of 2019.
Locatelli made the switch from fellow Serie A outfit, AC Milan, for a fee reported to be just over £11m.
The former Milan and Atalanta youth has since gone on to firmly cement himself as an integral member of Sassuolo’s midfield ranks.
All told, the Italian has notched 81 appearances across all competitions for Sassuolo.
In said ties, Locatelli has managed to notch five goals and provide nine assists – a solid record for a defensive midfielder.
Locattelli’s impressive form of late also saw him handed his senior Italy debut in September of 2020, whom he has now made six appearances for.
Man City eyeing Manuel Locatelli
Now, Locatelli’s form also looks to be attracting interest from one of the Premier League’s top sides.
That club is seemingly Manchester City, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Citizens have shortlisted Locatelli ahead of a potential summer move.
Locatelli’s current deal runs until the summer of 2023, with the DM stating that Locatelli is expected to cost around £30m.
City are not the only side seemingly keen on the midfielder, though, with Serie A powerhouse Juventus also credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.
But with Fernandinho’s contract up in the summer and Rodri perhaps not impressing as much as many had hoped since moving to England, Pep Guardiola’s side will likely need to bring in some fresh legs in the center of midfield in the summer and Locatelli could well be just what the Sky Blues are looking for.
