Mikel Arteta ‘really satisfied’ with Arsenal’s transfer approach

Arsenal vs Sheffield United

Arsenal are set to welcome Sheffield United to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners will no doubt head into the tie brimming with confidence, following a solid start to 2020/21 under Mikel Arteta.

The north Londoners secured their spot in the League Cup quarter-finals earlier this week, after seeing off Liverpool.

Arsenal have also been in top form in the Premier League, with their only blemish on an otherwise perfect record having come in a 3-1 loss away at Anfield.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, are winless across their first three league outings of the campaign, and are yet to find the net even once.

Arteta on transfers

Ahead of his side’s clash with the Blades, Mikel Arteta recently spoke to the media.

During his pre-Sheffield United press conference, a number of topics were discussed, one of which surrounded transfers.

Arsenal have already done some solid business this summer, bringing in Gabriel, Willian and Dani Ceballos, the latter of whom re-joined on loan.

But the north Londoners do not appear to be done on the transfer front just yet, with links to Lyon standout Houssem Aouar continuing to persist.

However, with the window set to slam shut on October 5th, the Gunners are running out of time to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

Nevertheless, should Arsenal fail to land Aouar, or anyone anyone else for that matter, over the next few days, Mikel Arteta seems to be quite happy with the club’s business to this point.

When asked whether he would be happy with his squad for the season ahead if further additions are not forthcoming, the Arsenal boss explained:

“I am very happy because the way we are acting and the way we are approaching and doing the processes around the market, around the squad and the communication link that we have at the moment between myself, Edu, the board and the ownership is really good and I’m really satisfied.

“And I know that we are all trying our best to improve the team and try to take the direction to achieve the goals that we want.

“After, to achieve it or not, sometimes in a deal a lot of things are happening and you have three or four parties that have to be involved in it, but we are trying our best and I am really happy with the way this link and communication is flowing at the moment.”
