The Morocco Government has appealed to political actors suspected to be involving in Sudan crisis to seek for lasting resolution.
It was gathered that this call made during the meeting of the African Union’s (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) on Friday.
Speaking at the meeting, Mohamed Arrouchi, Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the AU and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), emphasized that political compromise is the only viable solution to the crisis in Sudan.
“This solution must be grounded in serious and constructive dialogue, aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people and preserving the country’s state institutions”, he said.
Recall that since April 2023, heavy fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has devastated the country, leading to severe humanitarian crises. Key areas like El Fasher in Darfur have seen critical infrastructure, including hospitals, attacked and shut down, exacerbating the crisis for civilians who are already facing significant challenges accessing healthcare.
