Over 1Mln Students Received First Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine (Ministries)
Rabat – More than one million students aged between 12 and 17 have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, as part of the vast vaccination campaign targeting education public and private, traditional educational establishments and foreign mission schools.
According to a joint press release from the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Health, issued on Wednesday, some 700 school vaccination centres, dubbed “vaccinodromes”, will be set out instead of the existing 419, in coordination with the local authorities, in order to speed up the pace of the national vaccination operation dedicated to students.
This operation, marked by a strong participation of students and their parents, takes place in “good conditions” and is characterized by “a rigorous organization”, the source points out.
Launched on August 31, this operation is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Scientific Committee in charge of the National Vaccination Strategy, with the aim of ensuring a safe return to school for students and educational and administrative executives, it adds.
The two ministries urge students’ parents to actively engage in this important operation which will enable to achieve collective immunity towards the return to a normal life, as well as the effective start of the courses on the fixed date, stressing the need to continue to comply with the precautionary measures recommended by health authorities.
